Holy crap! The people that live in those houses in these pictures can just LOOK OUT THEIR FRONT DOORS AND SEE WHALES. THERE IS NOTHING COOLER THAN THAT!

Also, I really, really want to visit a lavender field now. These pictures are amazing. Completely bumped this region up my bucket list.

And the whales are pretty regular visitors to that area too. I don't think I'd ever get anything done -- I'd be way too involved in just sitting on my deck waiting for the whales to go by!

The lavender farm was really neat. You could wander the fields and (of course) they had a gift shop with tons of lavdender products. There is even edible lavender and they had cookies and brownies with it baked it -- different, but not bad.

I've just noticed that we're both friends with tielan -- what a small world! She was my first friend AGES ago, I'd stumbled across her fic John/Teyla fic in the SGA fandom and became a fan of her stuff.

My best friend's family are all really into the use of homeopathic medicine and other things. The joke whenever I visit and have some kind of ailment is "put some lavender on it." I've started referring to lavender as nature's duck tape. I don't, however, know how I feel about lavender being in brownies...however I'm game to try everything at least once. *makes a note of it*

Heh, yeah, I think the fandom world is shrinking, actually. I discovered a long-time Twitter friend of mine in a Nanowrimo chat room last month. I found tielan when I started reading Avengers fic. I liked her Clint/Natasha stuff, but I discovered her characterization of Maria Hill and fell completely head over heels in love. I've never been involved in the SGA fandom, though a friend of mine regularly shares snippets of various fics (and keeps trying to get me a weatherman au story), so I'm familiar with the work enough to fake my way through conversations. It gets fun!

I'd use lavender more often, but one of my best friend's son is allergic to it and I see them often enough that I try to stay away from it so I don't make his eyes swell closed when I see them!

SGA was my first experience with any fandom, and I just lurked other than a comment on a few fics, especially tielan's because I just LOVE her stuff. And you're right, she has Maria nailed! Did you read her Avengers/Black Jewels AU? AWESOME!
