Quilting

[livejournal.com profile] shenshen77 and I have been chatting about quilting recently and she mentioned wanting to see my quilts.  So, I thought I would post some pics of some.  I have a bunch of quilts in various stages of being, and I've only finished a couple of table runners and a couple of wall hangings.  I am about halfway done with the piecing part of one I'm going to use as a bedspread (twin sized) and that's my largest project so far.

Here's a wall hanging that the directions called a Memory Quilt. The buttons in the corners are from my dad's Navy uniform and you can see a pair of his Lieutenant's bars too.

This is another wall hanging, a rag quilt of the American Flag:

Wall hanging or lap quilt I've called "A-BUZZ About Autumn":

Wall hanging or lap quilt that still needs the binding sewn on (it will be black). I'm still trying to come up a clever name for this one, any ideas?:

Those are gorgeous! I love the memory quilt, what a lovely idea! I have everything to make at least a twin bedspread, I just have to find the energy to put it together ;) But yours are lovely. A name for the cat one... has to be something with purr ;)

Thanks! I have buttons from some of the clothes my mom made me as a kid to add to the Memory Quilt, and those white side panels are from mom's wedding dress.

I know what you mean about working up the energy to put things together. My twin bedspread is going to be made up of 24 12-inch sampler-type blocks and I have about 1/2 of them done, then the borders to go. I was totally gung-ho when I first started but not so much anymore :)

Oh wow, your mom's wedding dress features in it too? Lovely. And yes, as Alpha said, a true heirloom piece it is then. Lovely idea!

Mine will be smaller blocks, I think. Which will of course take longer to make, even though they're a rather easy design. Although now I'm thinking of just foregoing the instruction I have and do what I want. Yeah, Loki isn't my Northern cousin (according to my actual name) for nothing ;) And man, I was sooooo enthusiastic and gung-ho when I started too, but then I kinda discovered writing. And not a lot of quilting has been done since, hehehe. :D

I'm so looking forward to seeing the bed spread finished, it sounds lovely.
